Natural Disasters 2005: A Snapshot of Giving Patterns

  • Major natural disasters in the U.S. and abroad between December, 2004 and October, 2005 generated at least $7.37 of total American contributions
  • That represents 2.8 percent of total giving
  • Individuals contributed $5.83 billion or 79 percent of the total
  • Corporations give an estimated $1.38 billion, or 19 percent
  • Other foundations accounted for only 2 percent of the total
