News Briefing: Foreign Aid Workers to be Screened for Terror Ties

  • The Bush administration plans to screen thousands of people who work
    with Foreign Aid organizations to ensure that they are not connected with individuals or groups associated with terrorism, . [Washington Post]
  • An upscale children’s boutique on the Upper West Side, recently opened by philanthropists Marjorie and Michael Stern, says it will donate all its profits to the Children’s Aid Society, and is putting some of the young people to work in the store. [New York Sun]

    What’s interesting about USAID’s doomed-to-fail Partner Vetting Scheme is that it’s been open for consultation since November 2006 and this pretty much the first coverage we’ve seen.
