By Will Schneider on August 24, 2007No Comment
  • Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Thursday slammed a U.S. decision to blacklist the major charity al-Salah Association, one of the largest Islamic charities in the Gaza Strip. The Association’s bank accounts were frozen earlier this month by Palestinian banks after the U.S. government designated it a "key support node for Hamas". [New York Times]
  • Young donors, snub traditional appeals such as direct mail and phone calls, are turning to blogs and social-networking Web sites, such as MySpace and Facebook, to spread the word about — and raise funds for — their favorite nonprofits and causes. [Washington Post]
  • Last month, the Federal Election Commission voted 4 to 1 to allow wealthy individuals to donate money to charity in exchange for celebrity involvement in federal campaigns. [LA Times]
